January 2008 - One of Bill Beeler's hand carved walking sticks won an honorable mention in the 21st annual Show of the Rio Grande Woodcarvers in Pharr, Texas.

May 2008 - CKAG member Charlotte Humphress' watercolor "Horse Race" was recently awarded the Edmond Steinbeck Best of Show Award at the KWS Art Over Louisville 2008 Exhibit.  Helen Merrick received the Merit Award.

July 2008 - Community Health Center Art Auction was a great success.  Over 32,000.00 was raised for this worthy cause.  Most of the auctioned art work was donated by the members of CKAG.

Tips and Tidbits

Three New Things to Try in Watercolor

from "Daring Color" by Anne Abgott

1.  When a brush becomes ragged, try dipping it in boiling water.  Let dry - good as new.

2.  Fill wells with paint, let dry, mist.  Ideal for more control, consistency just right.

3.  Using the right paper is important.  I use Archer 300 lb.  You don't staple it and you can use both sides.
